Is there anything that the librarian cannot help me with?
We cannot offer advice (medical, legal, investment, tax preparation), except to advise you of reputable sources of information. We cannot type or proofread your document, resume, cover letter, etc. Also, we cannot offer troubleshooting or maintenance help with personal computers, laptops or devices. We cannot assist you with credit card transactions.
Do you offer any instruction with computers or other technology topics?
The library offers a variety of computer workshops. Topics include Introduction to Computers, Internet Searching and Microsoft Office. Please call 725-3714 x223 or stop by the Reference Desk to reserve a spot. The Computer workshop schedule is also available on our website.
Do you provide help with genealogy research?
We will provide training on using the online databases HeritageQuest and Newsbank: The Pawtucket Times Archives. We can also show you printed sources available in our Rhode Island Room and on microfilm.
Who will be helping me?
We will look at your appointment request and determine the best librarian to meet with you based on expertise and availability.
How long will the appointment be?
Each appointment may last up to one hour. Additional appointments can be requested with a maximum of two appointments per month.
How do I make an appointment?
Complete the form below with as much information as possible. Let us know what you would like help with and a time that is convenient for you. We will get in touch with you to confirm the appointment as soon as possible. We require at least 24 hours advance notice.
When are the one-on-one sessions offered?
Book a Librarian is offered Monday through Thursdays from 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm. Appointments must be booked at least 24 hours in advance.
How do I check in for my appointment?
Visit the Reference Desk on the second floor of the Sayles Building of the library. Your personal Reference librarian will meet you there and direct you to the area you will be using.
I need to cancel my appointment. What’s the best way to do this?
